In fact the majority believe Daniel Craig to be an ideal actor for the role, who will bring a freshness and uniqueness to the series, which has been lacking in recent years. Daniel Craig is riveting to watch on screen and he was chosen by EON productions because the other candidates did not have the essential 'it' factor, which Daniel Craig has in spadefuls.

Casino Royale will be a contemporized but faithful adaptation of Ian Fleming's first novel about Bond. Unlike recent films in the series, it will be darker, grittier and more like the plot driven earlier films, staring Sean Connery. In fact many are excited at the prosepct of Daniel Craig's portrayal of Ian Fleming's suave secret agent and Craig has even been compared to Connery, having similarities in sheer physicallity and onscreen presence.

Don't beleive the hype that the majority of Bond fans have rejected Daniel Craig as Bond, it's totally untrue. Many of us have been discussing these issues on the fansite forum CommanderBond.net and have set up a petition to show support for Daniel Craig, which you can find on the right column of this blog. The people who have signed are all genuine fans and there are no duplicates, unlike you'll find on the boycott sites. Your support for Daniel Craig is also welcome. Read here what people have said about Daniel Craig:-

Terrific Choice...A completely new departure. Craig's dramatic work in such movies as 'Road to Perdition', 'Enduring Love', and 'Munich' speaks for itself, and if you're worried that his unconventional appearance means a lack of sex appeal, allay your fears by watching him smolder in 'Sylvia' or 'Love Is the Devil'."

http://commanderbond.net/

Entertainment Weekly's Gary Susman

This blog will closely follow the production of Casino Royale and all future Bond productions staring Daniel Craig. It's a criticism of the creators of anti-Craig site craignotbond.com and quite rightly so. These people are not true Bond fans even, they are disaffected Brosnan fans who can't get over the fact that Brosnan has not been recast. Instead they attack Daniel Craig believing he is not good enough to play Bond, based entirely on the roles he has acted before and his looks in particular. The people behind craignotbond.com DO NOT represent the majority of Bond fans in anyway whatsoever. All they have done is gain some publicity for their site and got the world's media attention for a short while. The majority of people who have seen Daniel Craig act in such movies as Layer Cake and Munich, realize that he is going to be a very different Bond, but one that will be well worth seeing.

I must say some of the information in the article about the cast of CR is incorrect. There is no return of "Q" or "R" played by John Cleese in CR.

Maybe you could say I am sad for having this pro-Craig site, but I beg to differ. At least I haven't built a website with paid hosting, contacted the worlds press in order to tell others to boycott a film on the basis of the actor not being Pierce Brosnan. I'm mean did anyone really want to see another The World Is Not Enough or Die Another Day anyway?

Also read more criticism of craignotbond.com in this article at Cinematical entitled Everyone Hates Daniel Craig.

Links > Daniel Craig.
